I bought 4 baby chicks from TSC. One was a bantam. Beautiful little bird (rust with black lacing and silver legs) One was a rust red with some black in wing and feather tips (think will be a brood) really big pullet. One is solid black (medium size) pullet and one came out white with black tips and feathers on legs (big bird) The one with feather legs was sold as a pullet. When she grew she started making low crowing (cute sound) I thought okay I have one of those crowing hens. Then the crowing became loud. She started bullying everyone. One day I heard my black one screaming. I turn to see the white one pecking at its neck and looked like it was trying to mount her. Is she a he? I was told by TSC that except for the free run bantam the rest were females. Does behavior alone tell or is there a way to know that I can tell? Should I separate the run for the bantam and middle sized one from the white one and the maybe brood hen?

Do you have a picture? That will make it easier to tell, but yes, that certainly sounds like a little roo. How old are they now?

should I separate medium size and bantam from rooster and brood? They look scared of white one.

If you have a photo, we can tell you if it's a cockerel for sure.
But it does sound like one.
You could separate. It could be tough on the girls with him around. Maybe in a pen where they can still see eachother?
