Rooster's comb is black

I need help chicken friends. My dear rooster, Gomer, (we do love him, despite the silly name) is under duress. He started limping about a month ago, and has gone down hill from there. He has feather loss, he's lethargic, and his comb went from red, to blue-ish black, and now his comb is crusty. And what's worse is the hens no longer want anything to do with him and won't let him back in the coop at night. I noticed today some of their combs are turning black as well. I'm afraid I'm seeing the beginnings of the end, but I don't even know WHAT I'm dealing with at this point. Please help!!

Oh goodness I hope not. But after reading your article and more research, I think that's exactly what we've got going on.
