Roosting on Treadle Feeder

How do I prevent chickens from roosting on top of large treadle feeder? I’m afraid spikes with hurt them.

Attach a sharply angled piece of wood to the mesh that covers the top of feeder. Couple of holes in the wood and wired to the mesh.
