Roundworm and Wazine?

I have a hen who had a loss of balance last night and I gave her Wazine in her water when she went to sleep (isolated) and in the morning her entire sleeping area was covered in roundworms in her poop. At this point, is she going to be okay? Do chickens recover from this? Could wazine harm her at all? It's been 22 hours and her loss if balance hasn't gotten any better.

It sounds like she had a very high wormload. She is now passing the paralyzed worms. I'd do some supportive care such as offering electrolytes in her water and providing a warm spot she can get to if needed (you can use a heat lamp for this).

I would also check her over for lice and mites, since she doesn't need to be dealing with those along with the worms, and treat for them if needed. Additionally, I would follow up the wazine treatment with a broad spectrum wormer such as Safeguard in ten days, since Wazine only kills roundworms, and she may well also be dealing with other types of worms too.

Also, since she was so badly infested, you can almost guarantee all the rest of your birds are too. Put Wazine in their water and also do a broad spectrum wormer ten days after the Wazine treatment finishes for them too.

Worm excrement is toxic to chickens, this is what has happened. The wazine didnt do her any harm at all.
Go to TSC on hwy 40 or the feed store on hwy 17 just north of Kingsland and get a bottle of Poultry Nutri Drench. Give her one drop orally twice a day for no more than 5 days.
Also mix some buttermilk in her feed to eat for a couple of days, add chopped boiled egg to the mixture if you wish.

Piperazine, the active ingredient in Wazine, works by paralyzing the worms. I've heard it described as such: The worms fall asleep, and when they wake up, the chicken is gone.

What you describe is your dewormer working.
