Runner Ducks Fly!?!?!

I thought that runners were not flight ducks! Everything I have read says no but our fawn & white runner just flew over my husband's head (he's 5'6") to get away from one of the dogs. We have 6' fences.

The thing is she's only 11 weeks old. Am I going to have to clip her wings or was this a fluke? The idea of clipping her wings makes me sad.

Post a picture of the duck, sounds like you may have a cross or not a runner at all.

I had a hatchery Runner that could easily clear a 8 foot fence. Any light weight duck when spooked may be able to temporarily fly.
