I sent off a fecal sample which came back positive for coccidiosis and Capillaria worms. Will start the ladies on Corid tomorrow (2 teaspoons per gallon) but my question is has anyone treated capillaria with Safeguard Aquasol dewormer? From what I found, Flubendazole is best for these type of worms, however it's not available in the US. I saw a previous post mention Safeguard (goat dewormer) is the best bet. If the Aquasol isn't appropriate to treat, would Safeguard Paste be the next option? TIA

Aquasol will not treat capillary worms, only roundworms. It is fenbendazole, the same as SafeGuard liquid goat wormer and the horse paste, but at a imuch weaker water soluble dosage that is given in water for 5 days. To treat capillary worms use the liquid goat wormer or horse paste (10% fenbendazole) and give 0.23 ml or 1/4 ml per pound of weight given orally undiluted for 5 consecutive days.
Or you may also use Valbazen sheep and cattle wormer 0.08 ml per pound of weight or (1/2 ml for a 4-6 pound chicken,) on day 1 and day 10.

Aquasol which only treats roundworms if given for 5 days has no egg withdrawal. It costs a fortune as well. But the SafeGuard and Valbazen do require a 14 day egg withdrawal if that sort of thing bothers you.

Awesome, I have some Safeguard paste here. One last question - you can treat chickens with Safeguard and Corid at the same time, or is that not recommended?
