I use the safeguard dewormer for goats for my hens and I see mixed answers on whether there is an egg withdrawal period or not. Does anyone have any more information or has anyone used the product before? if Yes did you have an egg withdrawal period?

I usually do 3ml to 1 gallon of water for 5 days

Welcome To BYC

Fenbendazole is dosed by weight, the liquid Goat dewormer will settle out of water so it may not be as effective in water as by giving it to each bird orally be weight.

Withdrawal period for Fenbendazole is 14 days after the last dosage.

Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.

I know this post is a couple months old, but I ran across it looking for info on egg withdrawal period.

I used the goat wormer with water also. I did 3mL mixed with about a cup of HOT water, then brought outside and mixed that into the gallon of cold water.
I never once saw it had settled a lot at the bottom, and my chickens expelled dead roundworms so I’m going to respectfully disagree that it’s ineffective like that.

I will retreat again the same way for a second round as recommended.

I’m looking for the egg withdrawal period also, yesterday was my last dose for round 1 so I have to painfully toss the pretty eggs my girls gave me today, it’s gonna hurt my heart so bad 😩😩
