This is Sammy, she is currently around 10 months old! She is my ermine amerecauna crossbeak and she is the sweetest little girl. I found her previous owner trying to rehome her when she was 4 weeks old as thats when her crossbeak started developing, I was very happy to take her as I have crossbeak experience! At first Sam was scared of everything, being a lone chick at the time, but as I slowly approached her and showed her I wasnt so scary she bonded with me quick!
When she was just 4 months old she even attended my cousins wedding with me! I brought her in a pink dog carrier purse and she was the life of the party! As a little chick she loved to sit on my shoulder so I affectionately would call her my cling-bug at the time, and sometimes "Stinkfoot" as shed often step in nasty things with her massive feet before proceeding to stretch sticking the grossness right into my face.
At about 7 months old she laid her first gorgeous blue egg inside of a cat bed, she later decided she prefers the cat tree to lay her eggs in though. She used to get bullied alot by the other house hens but as shes gotten older shes bonded with our other crossbeak girl Criss! Sammy follows Criss around everywhere and copies anything she does; its very very sweet.
To this day the saga of Sammy continues, the sweet little nugget is loving life and bringing joy to the entire family with her shenanigans! I may update this thread with more stories about her in the future but for now I need to do some work instead of procrastinating by writing this post haha

I have a crossbeak Silkie. This is the first crossbeak I have had in the almost 15 years I have raised chickens. How common is this condition? I noticed it very early when she was still quite young. She never seemed to have trouble eating and drinking. So I didn't do anything special, at least not yet. If it gets to the point she needs help, what do you recommend? Her top part of her Beavk is longer than the bottom and curves downward.
