SandBox for the Chickies?

When do the Chicks need Sandboxes to roll around in?Is a Day Old to young?Thanks!

I give our chicks a sandbox at around 2 weeks old...

If I were to put one in I would wait until 2 wks at a minimum. You wouldn't want it at 1 day I wouldn't think. They are still trying to figure out where and what food is. You wouldn't want to risk craw impaction if they were to gorge on it. I don't put one in at all.

yes around 2 weeks, we have not tried it any sooner that that.

The chicks may not know what to do at first, but there is always one who starts it all, then everybody joins in and they just love it.

LoL....well that chick looks a little dirty but very happy and content. Really cute!

Maybe in two weeks I'll give my babies a sandbox and let them go to town. Are you meant to really use sand....like play sand for kids?.....or dirt?

I wish I could get some dirt.... It's all white...

Play Sand is good, but i use the same dirt that the big girls use to dust themselves in, i figure if its good enough for them then then it will work for the chicks too.
I try to get clean dirt from the same area.
