Hi there

Looking for insight. This was my Meyer “meal maker”. I ordered all pullets so should be a hen. but her comb has been bigger/pinker than the other gals. the best I can tell she is a sapphire jewel (she/he has little black flecks throughout the feathers). Almost 9 weeks here.

This is a relatively newer hybrid breed it seems and so the sapphire jewel adults vary so widely that I have no clue. any insight?

It's a tough call. I lean toward if being a cockerel because of the size and color of the comb, but I wouldn't say it's certain. I'd give this one a few more weeks and watch the development of the comb and wattles.

Thanks for the reply. I feel the same. I wasn’t sure if anyone else law had been faked out by a pullet before or if it’s wishful thinking. happy to wait a few more weeks

That's an awfully BIG peacomb for only 9 weeks. I'd wait until you hear crowing to make any final decisions, but I would strongly suspect cockerel too.
