It it possible for chickens to just shed their leg scales or does discolored, slightly raised scales always mean mites? My one hen has looked like this for about a month, but I never really thought it was a concern until now. My other hen also has one or two discolored leg scales. If it is SLM, what is the best way to treat it, and do I need to clean the coop and Lyme the dirt? I've read multiple ways to treat this, but I'd like to know the most effective. Here are some pictures.

My Polish hen. Note the yellowish discolored, slightly raised scales.

My Silkie hen. I can't tell if she has a similar thing going on or if I'm just being paranoid.

All my birds have always had that look to them. Your birds are perfectly fine. But if it get to where they start looking like pinecones then you have a problem.

Thanks for the reply. I just wasn't sure because I don't think mine have always looked like that. I will definitely watch to make sure they don't get worse though.
