We have two new hens that came to us less than a week ago I noticed today while working in our run, that one of the hens legs seem a bit off, the other hens are normal.

Their old home got rid of them due to them being egg eaters, so we figured that there might be some deficiencies going on. They, however, have both laid for us and we have lost no eggs

Does this look like scaly mites?

Could be the start. Doesn't look bad. If your concerned. Rub Vaseline over her legs (I always used a mixture of Vaseline and 7-dust or poultry dust) to smother them out.

Is the red leg band too tight or imbedded in the skin? I would remove it. Nustock cream with sulfur powder would do the trick on scaly leg mites, and others such as Vicks, vaseline, castor and mineral oil all work well. Apply every other day. Is one of the legs out to the side? It looks a bit like it in the left egg, but it may just be the picture.

It could be too tight. Both her and the other hen have one. I've never banded any of my other girls, do I just cut it off . He's another picture of her. It looks like the foot with the band is twisted inward

The other hen she came with, the band does appear to be a more loose fit. But I will take both off
