I have one hen that is "laying" scrambled egg watery poop. She does not seem to have any egg hardness around her back-end and she is eating and drinking normally. She went to the nesting box and did this there. She is also running around the pen with the others. First out of the coop this morning. All of my girls have been looking rough around the edges, but no signs of mites. Seven dusted 2 weeks ago and then in 10 days after that just in case, so dont think it is that.

I know I have read this on these threads before and an not remember if this is internal laying or maybe egg bound. And if it is one of those then what am I supposed to do about it?? I have entered it in the search engine and came up with over 600 threads and the first 100 I went through were not what I was dealing with. I apologize for asking this when i know it has been done, and done, and done. But just cant find the answers and know they are out there.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can give me.

Many things can cause watery, yellow poop. I do home necropsies on my hens and I've learned that in terminal cases it is impossible to accurately diagnose the difference between internal laying, ascites, cancer, tumors and impactions. You have to look inside to know what's going on. I've yet to see a truly egg-bound hen and believe that much rarer than people believe. You can start with my Spa Treatment, which helps in cases where there's a mineral imbalance or a new blockage.http://hencam.com/the-spa-treatment/
Make sure that you are you are feeding properly. Don't overdo the treats (and don't get me started on the meal worm craze - too much protein can cause kidney damage!) Read my FAQ here:

If you live in a part of the country that is experiencing heat stress, that could exacerbate whatever is going on with your hens. Half a watermelon, fed in the shade helps to hydrate them. Good-luck!

Thank you for the ideas..... I feed layer ration in a free feed type of set up and they get about 3 cups of veggies scraps (to 11 girls) every morning. I dont do "treats" as such, but since they are penned I give grass clippings when I cut the lawn and whatever veggie scraps my daily use produces. It is only the one hen and it was just this morning that I noticed this. We have had some heat here in the last week....30C, dont know the conversion to F. Not overly concerned but will try your spa idea.

Thanks for your input. Appreciate the help!

Be careful with the grass clippings. Those can cause an impacted crop. How does the crop feel? Full, empty, watery or hard? Checking the crop is another diagnostic tool.

I checked her crop this morning and it feels fullish and I guess watery.... Not hard by any means, kinda like a water balloon. I checked a couple of the other girls and they seemed the same. A few less full but pretty much the same feel. Am going to check her quite a bit today. Want to see what might happen when she tries to lay again. That is when I noticed to begin with. I gave her some yogurt yesterday. That cant hurt, can it??

I will watch the grass clippings. Our lawn is LGFA (looks good from afar) lawn. Mostly clover and weeds. We mulch it and put it in but will make sure to watch and keep an eye out for problems.

Thanks again for your help.....please let me know if you can think of anything else. Or let me know if this is what I should find.
