Hi all,

Can anyone advise what dosage of Selenium should be given per day to an adult hen, she doesn't weigh much maybe just under 1kg. The only advice I can find online is the dosage for chicks and pullets. See context below.

We have a standard brown hybrid hen who is around 4 years old. Over the last few months she's been getting a little run down, staying inside the coop by herself all day, eating less and we think her age is just getting to her. We've given hens some Selenium and Vitamin E in crushed tablets in the past which has always perked them up and they've been back to their normal selves after a few weeks of taking it but we have now run out of the tablets.
Thank you in advance!!

A little scrambled egg with yolk and white daily will provide enough selenium to help in the uptake of vitamin E. Selenium can be easily overdosed.

I agree with Eggcessive, selenium is an area one should fear to tread.
I, personally, would recommend a multipurpose tonic. If you can get it I’ve had excellent results with Nettex Poultry Power
