it has been 3 years since i have done this and i for the life of me can't recall! i know you can easily tell with adults buff face= girl white face=boy

but i cant recall how the face color changes as they age...and my parents just gave me 10 that are suppose to be 2 males 8 females. but some have an off white and some seem to have a solid white....

sorry if this sounds stupidly obvious but i can't recall...i have raised over 60 bobwhite 3-4 years ago and cant remember a blasted thing! if i recall..as they aged they all developed off white faces females appearing an off white while males appeared more solid with no buff tinge to it

some of the last bob whites i raised..

Your Bobs appear to be about 10 weeks old. Usually by 12 weeks old, it is pretty easy to sex them. You got it right, buff brown stripes on the face are females, and white stripes on face are males.

Your pics are a bit fuzzy, however in the second pic, you can clearly see the two males in the back. See how the top of their heads are turning black...and the white stripes on the faces are starting to show? They are males. The others all have brown coming in on the top of the heads and the stripes look like they are buff in color. Sometimes females can appear to have white coming in, but the brown heads will give it away early.

So you probably do have 2 males and 8 females. In about 2 weeks, you will really be able to see the sexes clearly.

Nice looking Bobs! Enjoy them. :)

It never hurts to brush up on the old skills. I am sure it will all come back to you, especially with raising Bobs. They sure are a handful. Never a dull moment! LOL
