Hi everyone! I have 4 SR bantam d'uccles from Ideal that are now ~3 weeks old. I know it's still early (I'll keep posting weekly, as week-by-week threads from others have been SO helpful/interesting), but I'd love to start getting some input on what sexual traits my chickies may be exhibiting.

(I also have some bantam cochin frizzles, bantam ee, silkie bantams...I love them so much!)

I'm praying I'm not looking at 3-4 roos here...but I'm not super optimistic. My favorite is amongst the bunch, which may not be a great sign either.

2 MF Chick (with a pinking comb...it feels like a pretty definite roo)

Lumpy combs usually mean male, while spikey ones are female.

Have a look here if it helps, you can see the growth stages of d'uccles. Nutmeg and Peanut are boys and Noodles is female

I have read this thread - it was so interesting and helpful! I can't really tell the difference between pointy and lumpy lol sigh

I think 3 and 4 are for sure females... i want to say 1 is female too.. but not confident. I think 2 is a roo. But!! You won't have to wait long to know more definitively, another 1-2 weeks is all! I love these little guys 🥰

Thank you so much for chiming in...what are you looking at when you make those assessments? I'd love to get better at this!
