I have about 70 lbs of shelled corn that I was going to burn in a pellet stove, but plans have changed. Can my chickens eat this ? It's hold kernels they aren't cracked.

Mine love whole corn and it's their favourite treat. Be aware that it's more of a "build-up" feed for coming into winter though, because corn is really fattening.

Make sure that if you're feeding it, they're getting enough protein. (check your feed tags and do the math.) Insufficient protein can result in reduced egg production and (sometimes, not often) cannibalism as birds try to get their protein from other sources.

Layers should have at least 17% protein, roosters should have at least 15%.

Thnx for the response; I currently give them layer pellets which is 18%, and this past winter i have been mixing some 20% chick crumbles with it. I give my flock of 11 hens and 1 rooster about 2 cups of mixed scratch grains per day, so I'll hold on some of this and try the shelled corn.
