Hello, I have 13+ fertile chicken eggs arriving on Wednesday. I was wondering if I should let them sit for 24 hours before putting them in the incubator, or do I just put them in when they arrive?

Thanks! Xoxo :wee

Do you have an automatic turner or are you turning by hand?
If your putting them in an automatic turner, then turn the turner off and you can put them in as soon as they reach room temp.
They can settle in the incubator without turning.
If by hand you can do the same, you just don't have the turner to worry about....depending on the ambient temperature will dictate how long they need to reach room temp before putting them in the incubator. Putting cold eggs in an incubator will shock the embryos.

With shipped eggs, letting them settle before turning the eggs will help the aircell to mend and the yolk to settle at the right attitude in relation to the aircell. In my experince, if the membrane is torn during shipping 9 times out of 10 the egg won't hatch.
