Should I be concerned?

Just checking in with the new chciks and wanted to know if this chick's matted feathers on the back of its head should be cause for concern.

The chick is eating, drinking, & acting normal but it does also have a firm Strang coming from its rear that other chicks are trying to get after.

If I should be concerned, how should I proceed? Any remedies other than time?

I don’t think there’s really anything to be worried about. That bare patch does look like it’s sore. Gently clean the back of the head. Apply non-pain relief triple antibiotic to the area. Continue doing so daily until it’s healed. The string is dried up umbilical cord. You can snip it off with a pair of sterile scissors. The cord is dead, so it won’t hurt the chick. Check where it’s attached to the abdomen to make sure it’s not swollen. I only suggest this because you said the other chicks are messing with it. You can go ahead and apply the ointment to that as well. Your chick should recover without issues.
