Hello! I have 6 two month old silkies I purchased from a color pure breeder. I have two with color in question I will post pictures of. Here’s the combos I believe I have:

3 black/lavender splits (1 is definitely a roo)
1 paint or splash roo (posting pic)
1 white (hen?)
1 gray or blue (hen? Posting pic)

Please let me know which colors you think I have and which chickens I can breed together to remain color pure or what colors/sexes I need to add for a proper breeding program.

Also wondering what your breeding set up looks like; do you breed one specific hen to one specific roo in a separate pen altogether-if so how do you do this? Or do you keep them separate based on what colors will end up with color pure chicks?

TYIA!

Very pretty!

I'm guessing those ones in front are splash or silver partridge.

You need to decide if you want to just throw them all in one pen and see what you get, as that's how I started and got all kinds of gorgeous chicks! If you're trying for particular colored chicks, that's when you'd put one male with the appropriate hen(s) in a pen by themselves.

We're finishing up a breeding coop as we speak which will be four additional pens. We have one giant breeding pen now that I've been using.

For specific color breeding, in one pen, there is a pair of chocolates, which will make chocolates. At this time, I don't want any others with them as I want just chocolates. In another is a black silkie rooster with two black silkie hens for a special order of a dozen black silkie eggs.

I'll put one rooster in a pen, then whatever hens I have to make whatever colors. If I'm testing to be sure, for instance, I have a very light buff rooster I'm not sure about, so he's with two buff hens in their own pen. If they hatch buffs, then I know he's for sure a buff. When the whites I have and paints get another month older or so, they'll be penned up separately too.

I gave you this link in your other post, which covers a lot of the colors you have. I don't see a paint in there. They would be pure white with dark spots.

I'd be putting a pair of splashes, if you have a pair, together for 100% splash, or if not, use your blue and get 50%.

It just depends what you're wanting to end up with.
