Would love your views... I only have this 1 silkie chick left from my hatch as the 3 other silkies got eaten by fox so I have no silkies to compare this too.... I have other chicks from this hatch though, 2 polish cockerels, 1 Mille fleur cockerel and 1 polish hen, 1 Mille fleur hen and a black bearded hen.

This is a very meek chick, just fluffy. Doesn't relax much when held. Loves bumbling about on its own and has been very tolerant of my 2 newest frizzle chicks. The polish cockerels never fight the silkie although the Mille fleur cockerel has been fought into submission by them. The mille fleur cockerel never fights the silkie chick either.
The chick stands quite upright I think but always submits/head down when approached or pecked by others.

Pls lmk if you want other angled pics 📸

Very pretty!

I'd lean pullet for now, but I did see what possibly were hackles starting. That isn't definite as he/she's still too young to sex positively as things change. A few more weeks and it should be more definite.

I've wondered about hackles too... some days they look more obvious. Silkie definitely doesn't have much comb and a round poof on top. Will wait to see but curiosity keeps getting the better of me!

Esp as the cockerels are fighting now, I'm needing to split into groups and find new homes for those I can't keep...

Hi,
What a pretty little bird 😍.
At that age my silkie roos had bigger combs and little streamers. I can really only make my best guess about sexing them by looking at the BACK of the head. I am going to look for pics at the same age….

This little guy was around 12 - 13 weeks when this was taken. That said, it is crazy hard to tell! My hen seems to have pointy saddle feathers to me so I can’t judge on that. Anyway, that is my 2 cents from someone who knows nothing but has a few silkies. 😃

Thanks for the replies. I would be very happy if it's a pullet as it's for keeps if so. I have 2 roos already and that's my max here to keep everyone happy 😊
