Hi, I am new to the chicken world, in April i got a black silkie and a rhode island red hen as chicks together. Up until last week everything has been great, playful, happy, could pick them up. Then out of nowhere the silkie became aggressive. They are not laying eggs yet. She will charge at me, stomp her feet and peck me. I don't understand what all of a sudden changed that she is being mean and pecking. I saw another post about a silkie being aggressive that didn't have much info where the owner ended up putting her down. i'll do what i have to if thats what comes to it but if i can save her that would be preferred.

The red hen still acts normal.
My next question is if she has to be put down what do i do about my other hen? They are both butt buddies and follow each other around and i don't want her to be alone. Do we try and purchase other grown hens to introduce to her. Or get chicks and keep them separated til they're old enough to be with her?

This is eating me up because everything was great last week.

I appreciate any feedback,

thank you!

Sorry to hear about the squabbling with your chickens! Hopefully you got everything sorted now that you know that the silkie is actually a 'he'. Would love to hear an update :love
