Hello all! I have a couple of silkies that are a little over 3months old. I have attached pictures of both. The black silkie has shown aggressive behavior to one other hen in his/her own flock, however this is ONLY when they go to roost and it is not with another hen that is attempting to take his/her spot in the coop. The other hen is only trying to get up the ladder and the black silkie singles her out. I have not figured this out, the past two days the black silkie has crowed 4-5 times each morning. The other silkie I have attached pictures of already had a good sized purple walnut comb in the middle of it’s face and is somewhat aggressive compared to the other silkies. I have 2 other silkies same age and the other two do not have this and are not demonstrating the aggressive behavior. I am also attaching one more picture of a silkie a couple of weeks older than the first two... I have no idea about her.. I thought she was a hen, but from what I am reading she might be a rooster...

First time chicken momma here. I have 15 chickens total, I have 6 others close to laying, I thought I had all hens, but when I heard that crow yesterday morning my eyes about popped out of my head! And then to see it is coming out of a little silkie! Lol from what I’ve read it is hard to sex them when they are little, I just thought the store would’ve told me that.. but I guess not? Any thoughts or feedback would be helpful on what these two look like as far as hens/roosters. Thank you all. I am looking forward to being part of this wonderful chicken family community! 😁

Welcome to BackYard Chickens! We're happy that you've decided to join us, and we hope that you enjoy your time on the site.
You have beautiful birds! Unfortunately, the only one that I can really tell is the brown one -- he definitely looks like a handsome rooster.
I can't help with the others, sorry. Comb pictures will definitely help, though.
Good luck with your flock!

They both look like boys, but get comb pics of the black one because it’s a little harder to tell with that one.
Thank you for your reply! I got comb pics of both of the black ones. The first is the one that is a few weeks older. The second doesn’t have much of a comb yet but is the one that has crowed the past couple of mornings and is the most aggressive If the flock. Thank you!

First is a cockerel and the second is a pullet but it’s hard to tell with the second one because of the shade.
