These are two 4 week olds that I hatched. Eggs purchased as silkies. The little white one (named Sugar Cube) already looks like he has a pink comb coming in. They both have five toes but Sugar Cube has pink skin.

I purchased eggs from a backyard breeder to hatch. I am not looking for show quality just a pet! I am new to chickens and I was reading they have black skin so was curious if the lighter guy is a mix. I heard they are hard to sex for a long time. Does the comb look boy like to you?Where'd you get them? They sure look like silkies to me as that's all I raise. Yours may be hatchery quality, although, paints, mottled, and maybe other types of silkies are hatched with pink in their toes and beaks and that turns darker as they age.
If they wind up just being hatchery quality, they are still beautiful and there's nothing wrong with them whatsoever, as long as you don't want to show them.
