I went to a local poultry auction and bid on a group of 4 young birds that I thought were silkies. I saw them in a cage from a distance and 1 black was a silkie, but when I got the box they came in it said 5 month old polish. When I got them home 1 of the 4 looks like a silkie, the other 3 look like and have all the caricteristics of silkies (extra toes, Feathered feet, blue ears ect) but their feathers are normal feathers. So.... are they polish crosses? Are they polish? Are they the "satin" silkie and if so how would this affect breeding them? I got them to breed blue black splash silkies. My understanding is that silkie feathers are regressive so if bred back to silkies I should get 50% silkie feathers 50% regular feathers.
