Silkies Point Of Lay?

Hello! I just recently bought 4 Silkie hens from a local farm, they have been here for a week or so. The previous owner said they are roughly 18 weeks old. I have heard that a silkies point of lay can vary widely depending on the bird and even colour? My question is when did your silkies start laying eggs and what is the average point of lay age? It would be great if y'all could vote on the poll to give me a better idea of when they should lay. Thanks!!!

I will be curious to see results. I was not sure of age of mine when I got her so I would be guessing her age for first egg to do your poll.

On another note, she only laid about 10 eggs and went broody. Guess that is very common for them. Good luck!

It is different for every bird, but mine started any where from 6 months to a year. It all depends on their feed, coop; how much daylight that they are getting, etc.
