So we have a mixed flock of about 40 birds sharing a run, out of those birds we have a buff brahma roo and a white silkie roo. We have several silkies (around 8 that are black and buff in color) who we were trying to breed but it seems like our white silkie roo, named dirty bob, likes the "thicker girls" and wont mate with the silkie hens, only the Rhode Island Reds and Buff Orpingtons/Buff Brahmas. We do have a younger gray silkie roo around 10 weeks old inside we are planning on introducing out in the run at some point.

Havent specifically targeted chicken breeds to mate before, but regarding the silkies, will it be more likely the new roo might mate with the silkies? or will he target what isnt already "claimed" by the other two roosters and still in fact go for the bigger hens?

Short of segregating all the silkies in an area we want to mate, are there any other ideas that come to mind to get them to mate?
