Silkies with Spiky Heads?

My two partridge silkies (around 4-months old) have "spiky" heads rather than the normal "puffy" heads. It looks like the fluffs just fell off the barbs and their head "feathers" now feel hard and pointy. I'm pretty sure this happened naturally (not due to a predator) as they started off with fluffy heads that gradually became this way. Other than that, they seem perfectly fine and soft, with huge crests, bearded, fluffy tails, etc.
Is this normal? Will their heads get puffier when they get older? Or am I not giving them enough of some nutrient?
Thanks!

leadwolf1- Hmm, i don't think its feather picking, but if it is, how can I stop this from happening?

MamaRudey- Their spiky heads are different from the "streamlines" a silkie rooster has; also, one is a hen and the other one we're not too sure yet.

I'll try to include some pictures...
