Silly chicken

Hello! my chicken has always done this but im not sure why? Does anyone know what theyre trying to do?

She is trying to dust bathe in the blanket. Is this an indoor chicken? If so do you provide it with a dust bath or time outside to dust bathe? I have had my young chicks try to dust bath in the grass, but once they get older and more experienced they usually start dust bathing in the dust of dirt. Such a cute little chicken

Yes shes an indoor chicken! I do take her outside from time to time but all she does is sunbathe and eat grass. But I'll see to get her something to dust bathe!

Do you have any suggestions as to what to use for dust bathing? Thank you!

For a dust bath I’d use a shallow tub of some kind, and put in some dry dirt from outside, mix in some sand and some people will add ash or DE, or maybe even some herbs. Just remember it WILL be messy, so probably put a towel under. I’ve never made a dust bath, just let my free range chickens dust bathe outside and in there run, so I may not have the best idea of this.
