So this morning i found a dead mouse in my duck pen, no half eaten carcas, no visible injuries, no blood or gore atall, just a perfectly intact dead mouse.
Now if it had been killed by one of my three cats it would have been dragged up to the door and presented with a flourish of noise and 'look what i got for you' attitude, and it wasnt my lil old dog because the pen wasnt open for him to access, so it had to of been the ducks, i know i shouldnt be suprised, chickens kill and eat mice, but it was just so unexpected!
Way to go duckies, keep it up!

!! One morning I was with my Muscovy Ducks in the yard and suddenly I saw one of my drakes Amour, catch a mouse with his bill and then he started shaking it like a rag doll until it was dead. Then he tried to swallow it, however it was bigger then his throat and then the five other ducks saw the opportunity to chase him with his meal around the yard until he dropped it:lol:. They also tried eat it but ended up with the same results. Throughout the day they tried to eat it but finally all of them gave up and I had to deal with the mutilated mouse corpse and threw it over the hedge.

Yep. Whenevr I find a mouse nest under of one the dog houses in summer I let the ducks eat the mice babies. I know, sounds cruel, but I cant stand snakes and mice attract snakes. Im hoping that since im getting these scovies that they will eat more of the adults.

I heard of them killing baby rabbits before too! I have adult rabbits eat with my chickens out of their feeder all the time! Its cute.

We found two dead small baby rats in our duck/hen cage. All intact and in a pile. Either the ducks or the chickens killed them! Great little hunters!
