SL Wyandotte over Soeckled Sussex… Any guesses on colors? Who’s into color genetics?!

Hi everyone! This is just for fun, but I’d love to hear what you think of these lil chicks and how they’ll turn out. Rooster is SL Wyandotte. Hen is Speckled Sussex and maybe a Saphire Gem? I know it was two hen’s eggs, but I can’t for the life of me figure out the second hen.

Anywho, my olive Egger hatched these cuties out. The darker chipmunk I’m sure will favor the Wyandotte, but I was honestly shocked to see the cute little white/buff chicks! Any guesses? How was this color down possible and any clue how they will feather out?

They just hatched today so I’ll try to get updated pics tomorrow.

Do you have any other hens besides the two mentioned?

Yes, but none of them make sense. I have a red sex link that may have laid that egg, but I don’t think she’s laying any more. She’s 3 years old and her eggs at the end of the summer were super wonky - very thin shells, breaking in the nesting box, wrinkled, etc plus the eggs that hatched were smaller and more oval than her eggs were. But I guess it could be her….. I also have a sapphire gem, but she’s just finishing a molt and her eggs are much bigger and almost a white-cream. The “mystery eggs” are small, oval and medium brown.

Other breeds are brown leghorn, BCM, EE and OE, so it can’t be them. Plus all of them are molting HARD and completely stopped laying right when this flight was being laid.

I’m kinda stumped. Unless one of the Wyandotte mix pullets started laying, but they just hatched in July and that seems too young to lay. I might need to double check my chickens and see if I forgot anyone! I know for sure the small cream eggs are the SS. The clutch was about 1/2 SS eggs and 1/2 mystery eggs.

Oh my goodness, I completely forgot I have one buff Orpington! . So that’s definitely the other mom. I just got her last year and she wasn’t planned. My friend and I split a chick order and they gave us an extra Orpington, so I kept her. Can’t believe I forgot about Goldeen!
