Hello everyone, I have a 3 year old bantam who seems to have a impacted crop. Yesterday I noticed she wasn't acting like her normal self. She went up to her food bowl but didn't eat. I removed her food and only left her water since I suspected a small impacted crop. Today I was able to confirm it. I have since then separated her and have fed her raw egg which she barely ate. I am planning on giving her vegetable oil later when I return home. She has had digestive issues in the past. She hasn't laid an egg in months. Her poop is yellow and liquidy.

Thank you so much! I've messaged her crop and given her oil but I noticed that she isn't digesting the liquid in her crop it just stays there. I checked for the typical sour crop smell and it didn't smell like it. So now I'm confused as to what this can be. I'll continue the crop message and oil treatment, thank you again!

I am having the same issue, mine is very lethargic, and the only smell I notice is a vomit kind of smell. She perks up to drink when I come in the bathroom and lift the water bowl but she even has trouble getting that down. I haven't managed to pry her beak open but I have molasses as well as coconut oil, would it work if I warmed the oil and watered it down, would that work?

I'm so sorry to hear about yours. I think she may have sour crop due to the smell. I'm not too experienced in treating sour crop so I would suggest you search it up on BYC. So far my hen is doing good. I fed her raw egg and eventually cooked egg everyday. I also messaged her crop routinely. I hope your hen feels better soon!

Sounds like it may be Sour Crop. Read the article below.

No, I would not give liquid oil, give the Coconut oil in small chunks.

Is it time for a Molasses flush? Have you treated with an anti-fungal?

Not yet, I am trying Boron (not Borax) first since they use that for vaginal yeast infections, I am going away for the weekend, and going to leave her in the bathroom (my son will check on her Sat) with the boron water. She has drank a lot of it already, she is eating, looking a bit better today, and not moving her neck around like she was. I don't want to start the anti-fungal if needed until I get home as I'm not sure if they work like antibiotics and get worse if you stop in the middle. Oh and I have gotten her to drink some molasses with water in it as well.
