Does anyone know what are the smallest breed of ducks? I would like to hatch ducks that I can keep for longer in my brooder, preferably throughout the winter.

Not 100% sure, but I'm wondering if Call Ducks are the smallest. They're bantam-sized ducks, so obviously smaller than most, and they have big personalities, is what I read. They're good (and at least the smallest) ornamental duckies, too. :D

If I remember right I think @Ravynscroft has a call duck. It's adorable and spoiled rotten from what I've heard. Maybe she will post a pic if I ask
@Ravynscroft will you post a pic of your grandma call duck?

Yes, you are all quite correct, Calls are the smallest domestic breed of duck... individual weights may vary depending on quality, but as a breed they are the smallest... some of the exotic ornamentals might be smaller, but many places require permits for most of those and they're needs are quite different than domestic ducks..

And this is Button, my smallest Call, who weighs in at a whopping 445 grams! :D

Thank you for sharing. Wow Button only weighs about a pound. How big are call duck eggs?
