So is it a rite of passage to chase a chick around your yard when they fly out of the pen?

LOL if so, check that one off the list!

My husband and I were just sitting outside enjoying the morning, pen top open so it's a bit easier to see the chicks... when one of the Jersey girls eyeballs the edge of the pen and zoop! Out she went, we cracked up! Then continued to chase her gently (didn't want to harry her too much!) into a triangle between me, him and our door on the porch where I was able to grab her.

That hilarious hands down and spread crab walk has *got* to be some kind of ridiculous lolol

little escape artists!

How often have y'all had to chase one or some down?

For some it’s a daily occurrence. Count it as part of your cardio routine. Maybe listen to a good workout tune…The Looney Tunes Road Runner Favorite Hits collection seems right. 😉

Yup. Always seem to be one or more escapes when you are introducing chicks to the outside before they get into a proper coop/run setup.

Chickens are hilarious at times. Comes with the territory.

My favorite is when a chick sneaks out on my husband and I get to look like a superhero because he can't catch them and I've already been a professional oblivious chick releaser long enough to have the recovery technique down by myself. 😤 💪
