I really would like to get some of these for my collection. But i have a few questions about the breed before i go buy some. My questions are

1. Do they do well in the heat? I live in central FL about 2 hours up from Miami FL.

2. Can they be kept as pairs or can they be kept as trios or bigger groups?

3. Are they a difficult spices to keep?

4. Dose anyone on here have these birds and have some for sale?

If you have any other information that you think it will be good for me to know please feel free to share.

!. They do alright but the are from the Himilayas.I am in N.H. and it does hit 100 sometimes. They do require a shaded pen for the summer.
2.They may trio if the hens are sisters and have been raised together all their lives, but mostly pairs are best.
3.They are no different from any other pheasants, except they love to dig.
4.I have 5 of this years hatch for sale.I cannot sex them at this time.
5.They need to be wormed more then your other species as they are diggers. As are all the eared pheasants, and cheers. So worm at least 3 times per year.
As for all pheasants, give them treats occationally,They love peanuts(they have to be unsalted),fruits, veggies, wild bird seed, smalll kibble dog food.If you feed any of your birds grapes,be sure to cut them if half as pheasants do eat them whole and choke on them.

All my pens are at least 50% shaded due to the high heat down here. I learned very quickly how important that is. What do you use to worm the pheasants. Currently all of my pheasants are being raised off the ground and on wild game mash and treats. Getting ready to build some bigger pens on the ground for them. Since they love to dig should i burry some wire under ground so they don't dig out?

I use ivemec to worm mine. You can use wazine or piperazine, but I feel ivemec is better.I put an apron around the perimeter, right on top of the ground and hold it down with tent stakes. The grass grows right thru and you wouldn't even know the wire is there. They love to perch hi too. Some are egg eaters so you need to keep an eye out for their eggs. They lay every 3rd day not 2nd like most pheasants. Miguel Feliciano is in Tampa,he raises impeyans.

Hi Tony, I live in Mass. I have a pair of Impeyans, purchased last fall from a 2012 hatch. My hen is doing fine. My rooster seems to be battling a cold.. He sneezes and appears to be gasping.. They both had the same thing last late fall and I gave them Terramiciin.I'm wondering if you have come across this with your Impeyans? Any recommendations? Also any particular wild bird seed to stay away from? And finally do you happen to have a pair for sale? Any assistance is welcome. Thank you
Hank

Hi De Wet,
It's 3ccs per gallon of water. The best times to worm them is before breeding season(Jan) and after laying season(August).Remember you need to reworm them 10 days later to kill the cycle. My eliots are the only ones laying right now.My grey peacock hen has laid 3 eggs and is setting on 1 of them.

No I haven't had any problems with mine thank god.Have you wormed them?I don't think there is any wild bird seed that is bad for them, they love peanuts unsalted only.Yes,I do have a 2012 pair for sale, they are siblings and the hen has slipped tendons in both her legs.I don't think it will effect her breeding, but she does walk a little funny.
Who did you get your pair from ?
