Hey y’all, my hen has sour crop(we are pretty sure) however after a 24 hour period without food her crop still has not emptied and is squishy. She picking at food right now but is not eating a whole lot. Should we just keep on waiting this out and giving scrambled eggs or is there anything else we should be doing? Thanks in advance for the help:)

Also we are currently giving clotrimazole cream but she is being difficult about taking it.

hi, I heard you can give Canasten vaginal pressaries and cut it to 1/4, give orally twice a day for 9-10 days while massaging the crop upwards to gently drain. Most comments said this helped the most.

Thank you, I currently have a hen with sour crop who vomits brown fluid every time I pick her up. I gently massage her crop and the liquid flows out. Been giving her a large pea size amount of monistat, she eats off my finger, for 2 full days, not better yet. Hope you’re right, will continue treatment until she improves.

I just went through this, I massaged her crop while holding her head down and she vomited brown liquid for a couple of days, this is not recommended as the hen can aspirate fluid into her lungs, however, I felt that she needed immediate attention. I also gave her a large pea sized amount of monistat three times a day for 4 days, which she ate off my finger. I took her to the vet on day 4 and vet said she her crop was normal. Day 5 morning crop was flat. Hope this helps.
