Southern Indiana Chicken Newbie

I'm hoping to start my flock very soon; we're just clearing out the area where the coop and run will set (hardware cloth 360 around the coop and close enclosure). I'm planning to try to keep six layers (I'll start from pullets). I'm all about the ahead-of-time research. Although I really do want the eggs, my chickens are also going to provide me with poop for my garden, and they're going to spend many days in a chicken tractor prepping my new garden beds for me and getting rid of my horrible zoysia grass and any ticks I might find, so that afterward I can sheet mulch with woodchips to deter any other ticks! I'm also planning movable chicken tunnels inside my garden to keep them from scratching up the stuff I want to keep. Other than that, they'll be pampered, petted, socialized, and never eaten.
