Hi,
I took delivery of my first chickens two weeks ago: two Speckled Sussex (Florence and Matilda) and a Barnevelder whom I've called Hamble. None has started laying yet. I believe they are around 18 weeks. The Barnevelder is bottom of the pecking order - I call Florence and Matilda, the velociraptor twins because they were quite hard on poor Hamble initially. All has settled now. The Speckled girls are really inquisitive. Florence is fantastic at foraging for slugs and worms. Matilda is a bit lazier although she enjoys trying to catch flies.
