My chickens were spilling a lot of food and once the winter came we started getting a ton of wild birds. I made a bucket feeder with 3 inch 90 degree pvc elbows to reduce the feed on the ground. It's been in the run for a few weeks and I'm worried that some of them cannot reach the feed. It is going down slowly, but I don't see them all using it often. I started supplementing their food when I began to suspect they weren't all using the bucket. I'm wondering if I should saw off some of the pvc but would really rather not if it's not necessary. Ideas? Suggestions? The picture below is what I used

Can you take a picture of your feeder the way it sits in your coop now?

From the size of your hand in the picture, have you measured the length a hen would have to reach to get to the feed and compared that with the length of their neck and heads?

Doesn't seem to me that most hens could reach the feed.

Then the wild birds can still get to the feed....
