I am reaching out to see if you could advise on what is going on with my Emden goose. I have a 1 year old female goose who has been laying really odd eggs, she has two domestic duck sisters that lay normal eggs. She has access to a yard, eats Mazuri waterfowl maintenance pellets, and access to crushed oyster shells. We do not use pesticides or fertilizers. We have taken her to the vet and they said it’s either a virus or infection and treated her with antibiotics, and we still see an issue. She has no other symptoms, sometimes she is very broody and lays on the duck eggs, and more often than not she lays these weird eggs in water (a rubber tub). Have you ever seen a bird, any kind of egg laying bird, that lays these kinds of eggs? The most common we see from her, the whole egg is a congealed white substance, like cooked egg whites, with a lumpy white tail (the one in my hand). The other type of egg is the closet she has laid to a normal egg, yolk on the outside, soft shell. Is this something that we should be concerned about in terms of her health? She has not yet laid a normal egg. She always seems uncomfortable on the day leading up to one of these lays (geese lay about every other day) and I’m just hoping there is something I can do to help her. Thank you for reading.
