What is this on my chickens chest? if you pull on it a little, it bleeds a tiny bit at the base. I’m not sure what it is so i will leave it be until i have some idea. It looks like alive tissue on inside at base. See the pictures attached. zoomed in and out photos. about an inch or just over an inch long, bendy as well. hidden under the feathers

Hazel (chicken pictured) is mid molt and has some new feathers in the area. over the last few months, she has also been recovering from a raccoon attack to a similar area of her breast.

That is a new one for me. It looks like a scabby appendage. That is in an area where we see breast blister scabs from pressure on the chest from a roost or damp bedding. But it could be scar tissue from the past raccoon attack, or even something wacky like a long feather cyst. If you could another picture in focus after parting the feathers it would be good to see. I don’t have any suggestions other than to maybe apply a little povidone iodine to it.

It is scabby-like in nature. I am hesitant to pull it or anything since it seems like alive tissue at the bottom where it is connected (i.e. minor blood when given a slight tug).

She doesn’t seem bothered by it and is still living her normal life—so I’m not ultra concerned. Just looking for any potential info on it.

It's most likely a feather follicle cyst. If it's not hurting or bothering the hen in any way, dont mess with it.
Otherwise it would most likely have to be surgically removed by a vet.
