Hello all,
I went to check on my two chickens this morning and found one of them had sadly died in the night. She was laying next to where she normally roosts. She hadn’t been laying the past week or so, but she was eating a drinking normally and enthusiastic about foraging in the yard. I did not notice any squatting or signs of being uncomfortable, so I attributed her lull in laying to the summer heat.
Though upon examining her body, I believe she was egg bound. The curious thing that has me concerned with my other bird is that there is blood coming from her mouth. There are no signs of struggle and no signs that a predator had gotten into the coop.
Thank you in advance to anyone who may have a suggestion
