One of my buff Orpingtons has a super swollen foot. It’s about double the size of her other one and she can barely walk. It’s also very hot to the touch. we’ve had issues with bumble foot before so I thought it was that but when I cleaned her foot there was no abscess or scab. I didn’t notice until this evening and by this time all the vets are closed or close to closing. She is eating, drinking, pooping normally. She’s currently isolated in a doggy crate cuz there’s no way she’d be able to get up on a perch to sleep nor did I want her to be around any more poopy germs. Any advice? I soaked her feet in epsom salt but I’m not sure it did anything for her.

That swollen foot has the appearance of possible articular gout, a type of arthritis, and possibly some scaly leg mites. Do the scales seem to be missing? Can you get a picture of the other foot? Is getting an xray from your vet possible, to rule out a fracture? I would soak her feet daily in warm Epsom salts for about 15-20 minutes.

Took her to the vet today, they weren’t able to figure out what exactly is making her foot swell but we got antibiotics and an anti inflammatory. She took a big poop on the kitchen floor after we gave it to her, so safe to say she’s feeling better lol. Thanks for your help!
