Hi, Wondering if anybody knew if Japanese bantams ever came with feather legs, or black feet? I purchased some from Ideal poultry last wed. I got them home and they have feathered legs. So I called them up and they said to come back next wed for free replacement birds. I got them today and two of them have feathered shanks. Here are some pics, could anybody tell me what they might be? The first two are 1day old and the second two are 1 week old Thank you

Since you got them from Ideal, they're probably "purebred" (at least in hatchery quality terms). That means either they're a different breed or poor quality Japanese bantams with stubs--small feathers on the legs of clean-legged birds that are a disqualification when showing. Considering how light the leg feathering is, and the fact that their color pattern/type/other physical traits don't closely match any other bantam, feather-legged breed I know of, I'm leaning toward hatchery quality Japanese bantams with stubs.

Two of mine are rose combs, don't know about the rest but four of them have feather legs. I only ordered grey Japanese bantams.

I got assorted Japanese's. This was taken the2-13. I received another 7 on the 16 th. All appear to have single combs but I only have 3 starting to develop combs. I really want males but since I want boys it looks like I have 12 girls from straight run! Time will tell but shoot ! If I wanted egg layers they would be roosters.
