So here's a few pics of my buff orpington from meyer hatchery(hatched Jun 24). I've posted pics of her on other threads and have gotten replies that she's actually a he because of the saddle feathers n comb but I still have some doubts. Took a close up of the saddle feathers...they are round& not pointy. There's a slight comb & bump where a spur would go but after doing some research, girls can have spurs and large combs too...any suggestions?

hmm. I'm torn. From my experience that's a big comb for a BO at 8 weeks. The saddle and hackle feathers won't be in fully yet at that age. You'd have to pull all the feathers apart and look for the new ones coming in to possibly see those at this age.

8 weeks is too young for sex feathers, especially in a slower breed like Orpingtons. You won't see them until 14ish weeks on the early end, some birds are 20 weeks. But this bird will get them, look at that comb. That's the boy indicator for this age, not saddle feathers.

Update: so it's been about 13 weeks since hatching and here's some more pictures. Temperament still calm and comb hasn't grown. Still look like a pullet?
