hi,
i’m thinking about getting a swan to keep the geese (canadian) away. the problem is i do NOT want the swan to scare away my ducks. would this be possible? i have tried to research ducks and swans coexisting but couldn’t find anything, so your help is great! thanks!!

They get along fine if they're socialized as youngsters. You can't just put adults to gather. If you have adult ducks and get a young/hatchling goose and socialize them, it should be OK. Especially if you have ducklings to mix 'em with. Keep an eye on 'em the first few days.

My experience with my pair is that it all depends on what time of year it is. Most of the time, my swans do not chase of geese or mallards and in the winter time I think I am feeding the whole wild mallard/Canada goose population in Ohio! Then, when breeding season starts (as noted by nest-building activity)--all the mallards and geese are suddenly (really suddenly) no longer allowed on the pond. Period. My Samson truly turns into a nightmare for them! Once cygnets are hatched and a couple weeks old, he mellows out again and I'm going broke again trying to keep up with the feed!

I have read and heard from other swan owners that Black Australian swans are the most friendly out of all the swans. Has anyone else found this to be true?
