Have any of you added a snow fence extension to you run for winter? I normally free range my chickens for a few hours a day and them put them in there enclosure which is predator proof. Its a 50 foot coop with attached run. I was thinking of adding a large snow fence area for the chickens to run around for a few hours during the day. It is covered by trees. Then I could lock them back up. What do you think?

'Snow fence' is meant to control where snow drifting happens.
Not sure how it would benefit chickens.
Pics of your coop and run, and your location,
would help us understand waht you have in mind.

Sorry I wasn't clear . I want to add an area using the snow fence as a literal fenced in area to contain them during the long winter. I can shovel the fenced in attached area out and put down straw. Last year they were only able to go up and down the shoveled path from the coop to my house.

We use plastic snow fencing to make a larger run for the summer as the "secure" run is too small. It works really well to give them access to fresh green grass, and we can move it easily whenever we like. It's good to get some anchor pins to keep the bottom secure though as our dogs can get in and the chickens can sneak out! The chickens can also fly over our snow fencing as it's not very high.......
