The Cheapest Place to buy Chick Feed?

Where have yall found is the cheapest place to buy feed for chicks? Local TS, other feed stores, mills, Chewys, Amazon, etc.? Just wondering.

For me, Rural King is about $1/bag cheaper than Tractor Supply, both of which are cheaper than Chewy/Amazon. Feed mills would be cheaper but they are located too far away to be worth it for my small flock.

Unfortunately, no RK here in Texas. Just TS.

I have found Bomgaars (formerly orschelins), is decently priced compared to TSC. It's not a huge huge savings, but if I remember correctly (doing my own calculations) for every 5 bags of feed I buy, I save about $40, which will pay for 2 more bags of feed.

Do you have an agricultural cooperative anywhere near you? That's where you'd find the best prices.

Most of the time, in my area, the local coop has the lowest price and freshest feed.

Coops and Mills generally have the best prices. I'm fortunate enough to have a family feed store that sells feed from a local mill as a loss leader, mark up is about 15% instead of the usual 30-50%, so after figuring storage, labor, etc, they are losing money every bag they sell (particularly when I get a 10% discount for buying 50#+ at a time, cash) - it ends up cheaper than buying from the mill direct.

Do you have a source for West Feeds locally? Some of their products looked decent (have not used personally) and they have good market share in TX.

x2. My co-op probably isn't the cheapest (though they do have frequent buyer plans), but they sell a lot of feed so new shipments of fresh feed are always coming in.

Family Farm and Home for me. It’s probably not the cheapest price but it’s 3 miles from my house. TSC and Rual King are both about 15 mile away. The cost of fuel and time to get to the other places outweighs any savings I might get trying to shop around.
