The mysterious duck eggs

so about a month ago, we lost our only female duck from what we thought was predation. We had a mountain lion sitting on top of our chicken run the night before she went missing. Along with her, a couple chickens and another male duck. Left behind were three mallard drakes and boy were they all super sad when the lady ring leader vanished, we tried incubating her last egg we had gotten from her but we were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Now fastin forwarding to current day. Yesterday my partner brings to my attention that we had two duck eggs in our duck hut, and sure enough he was right! So I figure I probably just missed them. I dug around looking for more and didn’t find any. Then today…. Three more duck eggs!!! Yes!! Where are they coming from?!? Any guesses because we are dumb founded

We did not find the remains. One theory was that she took off and had come back maybe to lay the eggs, but the boys that remain are mallards and know the males look far different from females so I’m pretty certain they are all male, they are definitely not chicken eggs although I found a chicken egg along with the three we just found today which is actually pretty normal for us because they all free range during the Day and I leave the runs open. And definitely not buried in the bedding. I thoroughly searched and replaced bedding after her last egg and after the two i found yesterday.

so far I haven’t seen her or anymore eggs however i set one of the recent finds in the incubator and it fertile. That means she has to be alive somewhere right? Would it still be a viable egg an entire month later?
 
Update: still no sign of my female duck I’m pretty certain she’s gone. But still getting duck eggs in the duck house. Not every day though. Two days ago I found 2 in there and two days before that I found 1. In seriously so confused.
 
Easily could be a wild female sneaking in for a safe place to nest. The males may have attracted her. Leave the eggs, you might wind up with a free replacement female. If you keep picking them up, she will decide that this not a good place to nest and find another spot.
