My favorite thread on BYC is This chicken is not dead. Thank you @janiedoe for starting that one!

I was on this other thread discussing gross/disturbing things we've witnessed our chickens eat and I thought this would be another good laugh. (Please let's keep this funny and light- no bad stuff like hardware or jewelry)

Bonus points if you can snap a pic!

I'll start: I've seen my smallest chicken scarf down a large toad like it wasn't half her body weight. I thought she was going to choke so I tried to take it from her. BIG mistake. It made her eat it faster. Then she proceeded to preen herself like she wasn't some sort of prehistoric villain in a b movie.

The grossest thing I've seen my chickens eat:
Grandkids were here and one of them dropped an ear of corn. One of the dogs ate it cob and all. The next day the dog had some gastrointestinal issues and pooped out undigested corn. The chickens apparently couldn't stand to see corn go to waste. They seem to enjoy the gravy too. 🤢

Hahaha gross! I have a dog that LOVES chicken poo but never the other way around.

I posted this in the other thread mentioned, but I once saw one of my hens catch and swallow a fledgeling verdin, near whole. I say near whole because she had to rip the wings off to successfully swallow it 😬😨.
Never quite looked at my cuddly lil lapbird the same lol.

Watching them go after a mouse or whatever similar unfortunate creature that crosses their path really makes me grateful I'm not small enough for these lil dinosaurs to swallow. Because I think they would, without hesitation. But they might at least regret it slightly once feeding time rolls around and their feeders aren't magically filling themselves.

Stolen noodles, this is baby Boris
